About Hommel / Hummel & Lewis Family
This family tree is dedicated as a tribute and a memorial to the lives, hopes, and
dreams of the Hommel's, Hummel's, Lewis', and their spouses. Their contributions and
many other families contributions helped build our country and our future. These are
the people who make us who we are today.
Quoted from " A Genealogy of Selected Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, Pioneer
Families, from the Arrival of the Immigrant Ancestors to the Present Time" can only
best describe our past handed down by our ancestors.
And there are some who have no memorial,
Who have perished as though they had not lived.
But these were people of mercy,
Whose righteous deeds have not been forgotten:
Their prosperity will remain with their descendants,
And their inheritance to their children's children
Their posterity will continue forever,
And their glory will not be blotted out.
Their bodies were buried in peace.
And their names live in all generations.

The majority of the Hommel/Hummel Family Historical information came from the family
historian Ruth Zanna Hommel's 1982 Manuscript, which can be viewed in the album
section of this site, and also from "A Genealogy of Selected Northumberland County,
Pennsylvania, Pioneer Families, from the Arrival of the Immigrant Ancestors to the
Present Time; Part XI, The Johan Jacob Hummel Family", compiled by Joseph A Meiser,
Jr., B.S., Ph.D., Sarah Roadarmel Meiser, and Dorothy Schuck Amerman. Published by
the authors in 1983
The majority of the Lewis family information came from Mary Edna (Lewis)
Wetherington. Informtion also was obtain from her brothers, sisters, and family
members. Her and her son, Michael Hommel, are in the process of writing the
biographies of those individuals who have long since passed.
The Hommel's, Hummel's, and Lewis' family's information is being complied together by
three brothers; Michael, Gregory, and Jeffrey Hommel.
I also like to give Saralee Murma, a fellow genealogist, credit in helping me obtain
information for the Hommel / Hummel family.
